After my field trip I grabbed my bags, a cup of coffee and eagerly headed up to the west side to catch the bus. This was my first time going to Boston and I was packed and ready for the weekend ahead. When arriving finally at 34th street in between 11th and 12th avenue I was greeting by an open sidewalk and huge lines. I got on one that consisted of only a few people near a metal sign with the word “Boston” printed in white bold letters. I was 45 minutes early. Waiting there I started talk to the two people flanking myself as the line began to grow. The woman was form Austria, visiting the U.S, the man behind me worked in New York and was heading down to visit someone on valentines day. I discovered in Austria her college education only cost 300 euros a semester and that Germany is having a warm winter. As we chatted, complete strangers we waited eagerly for dinner reservations, drinks and friends were awaiting us. Buses came and went, lines filed down and yet we were still standing in the front of this line. At about 5pm our bus pulled up. We shuffled on ready to begin our journey. The bus ride really just consisted of music.
Pulling into the Boston Bus Terminal I was a little nervous. I decided to opt for a taxi on the advice of my friends. The ride was nice, Boston is pretty spread out, and not as built up as New York. The bridges were lit up with rainbow lights as I drove by and it was nice to take in the city as I headed toward my hotel. Fifteen minutes and twenty dollars later I was at the hotel. Taking the elevator up to the fifth floor I knocked on room 515.
The next day was an early rise at 7am. We all got ready on time – surprising everyone and got in a taxi headed to starbucks. Meeting one of our friends there, we headed to the center where our conference was being held. We all got our name lanyards, some breakfast and obviously more coffee. Then the conference began.
