In the past few posts life has been crazy, school starting, settling into my new internship and getting back into the chaotic swing of Manhattan. Well today, some fate seemed to be smiling down upon my glorious self. As I was standing in line at the bookstore with the only book left I had to buy. (I procrastinated because it was 130 dollars new) The line somehow was mixed up and through trying to switch it back the right way I started a conversation with the woman in front of me. Turns out, she has the textbook and was wiling to sell it to me the next day for 40 dollars. It is really amazing what happens when you are a little friendly to a stranger. Goes to show people that you never know who you're standing next too.
I heard a quote the other day and i'm not sure where its from but the words definitely resinated with me.
"Be kind first, you have all the time in the world to be mean. If you are kind first people will see you as genuine. If you are mean first your kindness will never be taken seriously."
After this random interaction I am now saving money, in the possession of a much needed textbook, and I made a new friend. Easily one can slip into the ride New Yorker stereo-type, but there are good people out there.
Stay friendly loves. xoxo
