For the past, three years now I have taken my mom out for a special birthday brunch. On her birthday we go to Rhinebeck to eat and spend the morning together. There are so many more spectacular things I wish I could do for my mother than simply take her out to brunch, but I love the fact we get some time together to relax and talk.
My mom is basically my emotional rock. I have known to be a bit dramatic in some of my past years and she is always there to provide the middle ground, the reason and help. Now that i'm an adult (sort of) the help isn't as much making my lunches or taking me to playdates, rather giving me advice on life and listening to all of my crazy stories and scenarios.
We always have so much fun together and now that i don't live at home year round these memories are even more special to me because now I realize how fleeting they are. While living in NYC I sometimes call her three times a day, which she welcomes and always makes time for despite her chaotic schedule. She really puts her kids first which is something that continues to amaze me everyday.
So to the most beautiful woman I know inside and out, Happy Birthday Mammacita.
