Fathers Day, is that one day you wake up super early and make him breakfast. Presents, eagerly wrapped with cards scribbled in crayon, signed with big letters and given with even bigger smiles waiting for his amazing reaction to your amazing gift. Then usually fishing, or outdoor activities follow. Those days of making toaster waffles for breakfast because we weren't old enough to use the stove and trying to keep up with them on our bikes are over.
Now we are moving faster, our lives flying by. They're the ones we are trying to help keep up by updating them via text or calls. Now we meet up for coffee and instead of waiting eagerly at the door for them to get home we meet for dinners after both of us have gotten out of work.
The settings and circumstances change, but what stays the same is the love. It sounds oh-so cheesy but through the years my relationship with my dad has grown even stronger. I moved to NYC after visiting him working there all of my childhood, and now I am living my dream. So enjoy your day to my dad and all the dads out there. You inspire us, love us, and help us become who we want to be.
Happy Fathers Day. Xoxo
