Headed for home late Monday night, I hoisted my many bags over my shoulders and braced myself for the rush of Manhattan. Traveling light is always easier in the city, the more you bring the slower you become. However, I like having options when I dress so I set out with my clothes like a camel storing water ready for its long desert adventure, coffee in hand. As I was walking onto the 1 train to head up to Times Square, the little jingle sounded and I hurried into the subway car. However the many adults in front of my person decided they did not wish to condense any more leaving my shoulders hanging out of the open doors. The subway doors closed on my shoulders, crushing my frame and all my bags. I became more forceful pushing through the people so I did not experience the feeling of basically becoming juiced again. The car rocked back and forth, hot in my Donna Karen sweatshirt and seven inch Steve Madden wedges. Smart travel wear, obviously. I got off the 1 and raced the other commuters to catch the shuttle over to grand central.
When I arrived at Grand central I finally caught my train and lazily lounged until the destination was reached. On the way home my mom and I got large Starbucks and filled the ride with news, gossip and stories. I was hysterically laughing the entire time and I couldn’t remember the last time I laughed until I cried.
The next day was filled with activity. I went to my old job to see my moms new students, saw my sister practice on her volleyball team, and visited my old teachers. I genuinely enjoy keeping up with my former teachers. They are knowledgeable and frankly just all around awesome.
Then that night I went to see my old Varsity team play. We won, and I couldn’t have been happier. After the win I hung out at home with my parents and said goodnight to my sisters. To end the night, I met up with my friend who goes to Marist at the Everready Diner. I haven’t seen her since I left for college, so two hours were spent catching up until finally we both had to go.
The ride back to New York City was on a 5:15 am train, accompanied by my Dad who was heading to work. It’s nice to be back, but I do like having thr ability to go home and see my family when I want.
Today is a day filled with homework, wish me luck. xoxo
