My recent binge on Sex and the City makes me remember why I love living there so much in the first place. Also my addiction to the show makes me think of my own past dating experiences. Hey it's hard not too when you see four women constantly entangled in some sort of man related situation. In New York they say you are always looking for a job, a man, or an apartment. As an avid New Yorker I cant help but relate.
Is it our life mission to never be completely impressed? As New Yorkers we constantly pick and scrutinize, we only accept the best and are rarely astounded by anything. Is that why we are always searching for at least one of the three? Is it because we feel like we can always do better? How could we possibly have it all when deep down we are always striving to improve and reach a bigger, better goal in our future.
I think we always have this idea in our heads that we can have it all. The perfect place, the perfect high paying job and the perfect man. Sadly though all of these things require time, effort and maintenance. It's extremely difficult for one person to put an equal amount in to all three and expect fantastic results. Life offers trade offs, some work more than others leaving no time for the dating scene. Others sacrifice living in their dream home because although their job doesn't pay much they love it. We all make sacrifices, it's just another part of life. As I go on I realize sometimes in New York the sacrifices are a little more extreme than other places, but they are worth it if it's what we truly want.
So maybe you aren't coming home from your dream job that pays six figures, to a tribeca penthouse and italian model boyfriend. Your life is built by you, figure out what's most important and focus on that first. The rest will come.
Good luck on your searches loves. xoxo
