The light are up, the window displays are revealed and it is freezing in New York City. How to survive, you ask? I have some suggestions, from many winters in New York. Here are a few must haves for any girl trying to stay fabulous in not so fabulous weather.
Neosporin Lip Balm: It is super moisturizing and clear, perfect to keep your lips from being chapped and nasty. It comes in a little tube for under 10$ at most drug stores.
Facial Moisturizer: I actually have two different moisturizers. At night after washing my face I use Dermasil (oil-free). This moisturizer is intense and prevents my skin from peeling or becoming flakey. In the morning after I wash my face or before I put on makeup I use clean and Clear Dual action moisturizer. This formula is a lighter moisturizer but helps treat and prevent acne. My makeup goes on smooth after I apply this and throughout the day I don't have to worry about any bumps.
A Long Coat: Between the wind and the down right low temperatures, a long coat is a must have. Try to get something with a wool or cashmere blend, or if possible a fur liner. These coats will keep you toasty warm. I suggest Zara, Kate Spade, or even Macy's.
Gloves: In New York, when you walk everywhere it is important your hands don't freeze from talking on the phone or holding that latte. Tech gloves can be especially useful for those who are addicted to their phones, so most of us. However getting a thick pair of traditional gloves isn't a bad idea for when the weather starts to get very frigid.
Heating Pad: A sock pad filled with rice and jasmine to take care of those tense muscles.
Rain Boots: for either rain or slush or snow a good pair will keep out all moisture. I have insulated Hunter tall boots and shorter rubber ones form Laila Rowe.
Stay warm this winter. xoxo
