Seriously people. Pick up a book once in awhile. I absolutely love to read, the newspaper, books, magazines, and lately thesis papers. I like to cultivate knowledge on subjects I become interested or personally invested in. Sometimes I just like to read for fun. Getting lost in another world is quite pleasant for an hour or two. Here are some of my all time favorite reads in no particular order. (NOTE: this isn't a sponsored post, I have my own unpaid opinion loves)

Gang Leader For A Day & A Floating City
Both by Sudhir Venkatesh
A sociology student and then professor takes to the streets of first Chicago and then New York City. Very interesting reads about the inner workings of urban areas and the sub-cultures that hold up the urban affluent society we all know and love.
Angela's Ashes
Frank McCourt
A compelling memoir about depression in Ireland, and the struggle to survive told from a small boys point of view.
Eighty Days
Matthew Goodman
A creative non-fiction book about a race between two women, both fearless and leaders of the time.
Relish
Lucy Knisley
A comic memoiristic novel about food and it's impact on the authors life. Funny and a great read.
Peter The Great: His Life and World
Robert K. Massie
If you can get through long reads, I mean very very long, this is an amazing book about how this ruler really changed Russia.
I'll Take Manhattan
Judith Krantz
Fast paced story about a determined women who climbs her way to the top. She's a little crazy and sloppy along the way, but hey she's very motivated.
The Demon In The Freezer
Richard Preston
A very true and nerve racking story about the use of biological weapons.
The Chamber
John Grisham
A book about a death-row inmate and what really happened. It makes you question the death penalty, it makes you question who is the bad guy.
Pale Horse Coming
Stephen Hunter
Strange things go on in this book. The main character infiltrates a prison and what he finds in horrific.
