In honor of the Oscars I thought it would be fun to talk about pampering ourselves! I know sometimes I need a spa day but my wallet doesn't exactly agree with me. Although those swedish massages are so, so worth it, there are little ways to indulge you and your body all year long! So here are some tips and opinions about what I do to keep a little luxury in my life.
Soap - Buy good soap. It's as simple as that. Be good to your skin, don't beat it up and dry it out. There are so many opinions now a days for any type of skin. Lush has endless possibilities for soaps and there are even kits to make your own.
Candles - Light candles, have your space smell deliciously elegant.
Chocolate - Invest in chocolate. It's one of my favorite treats and when I eat it I get at least 60% dark and usually with some weird mix in. (Like sea salt, lemon, or cranberries) Allow yourself to buy good chocolate.
Shoes - For heavens sake these are your feet we are talking about. You need them for the rest of your life. Buy shoes that are comfortable and still look killer. Yes we all buy those spur of the moment six inch cheetah heels with the sparkly strap for twenty dollars. But this doesn't mean you shouldn't own three pairs of really good shoes. Sneakers you love, comfortable and cute flats that go with anything and a pair of kick-ass heels that don't make you want to become a double amputee.
Dressing Robe/Lingerie - Buy yourself hot underthings. Wear a silky black robe when you get ready. Doing this will make you feel 100x's more confident when you go out. If you get ready in slinky underpinnings and a silky robe you WILL feel as if you can role the world that night. Trust me.
Perfume - Own at least one nice perfume. Trust me, smelling good is high social currency.
Honestly, it really is the little things in life. None of the above has to be expensive. They're just little things that add some luxury to your day. Take care of yourself because you are going to have to live with yourself for the rest of your life. If your not good to you, who else will be?
Disclaimer: This does not mean you should go out and blow all of your life savings on that Chanel bag because you want to be good to yourself. Be an adult, take care of your responsibilities, just don't lose yourself in the mix. Life is a balance, it's hard to do but very possible.
Happy balancing loves. xoxo
