Friday was my last final, which for FIT means, get out! I had to be packed, ready, and checked out of my dorm by 5pm on Friday. This basically means, I can’t get back into my dorm room until the spring semester. Lovely isn’t it. On another note, I work Fridays from 3:45 to 6:30. In translation, I had to be moved out by 3:30pm. Stressful, yes, and although the odds were slim, I made it! The weekend consisted of work and couch surfing until I could finally catch this 6:43 train home.
After work on Friday I headed straight to my baby-sitting job on the east side. Then, taking a taxi I made my way uptown to my friends’ apartment. In the taxi, while chatting about the holidays with the driver, it hit me. I am 18 years old living in New York, taking a taxi to the Upper East Side to stay at my friends apartment. Basically I realized how much I love my life and how thankful I am for all the success I’ve had. Well let’s get back on track shall we? (that’s funny because I’m on a train right now) She has such a beautiful place, with an eye for decoration. Staying in the upper-east side all weekend isn’t exactly a negative. She is honestly so amazing though to let me sleep on her couch (pull out, of coarse!) We trekked to work in the morning on Saturday and then went dad Christmas shopping. (They are always so hard to get presents for!) Nursing our tired feet and our dented wallets we relaxed for a bit at her apartment until yet again going out, this time to the meatpacking district on the lower west side.
Meeting up with some coworkers we decided to go to The Standard Bar and Grill. The place was buzzing and right out-front they even set up a mini functional ice rink. Time flew by and we ended up home later rather than sooner. Today was filled with; you guessed it, more work! Then, finally after some much needed Starbucks, getting on a train home for the holidays! This has really been an amazing semester and this weekend capped it off perfectly.
