Charleston was such an enriching and amazing experience. I got the chance to meet other people as passionate about PR as I am. Plus it was my first time in the south and an incredible opportunity to see a city which holds so much history. I landed Thursday in time for dinner and ended up seeing some familiar faces, those who attended the Boston conference a month ago. Friday was an early rise, breakfast and then leadership seminars. Friday night was spent exploring the city, walking along the water and searching for some good food. I ended up hanging out with a few people who went to college in Charleston and we all went bowling and hung out later into the night.
Saturday was again an early rise, and we elected the new National Committee. This process was formally done and I really liked having the experience of such a properly run election and meeting. The more I attend these events the more comfortable I become in the professional realm. Saturday night was delightfully spent eating chicken and waffles!
Sunday morning there was a farewell breakfast and speaker and then a hasty checkout. Since my flight wasn't until about 6:30pm my advisor, her husband and I walked around the area surrounding the hotel. The water was right there and upon walking out on the docks we noticed Dolphins! Right there! They were swimming and jumping and it honestly made me feel seven again. Then we went to the Citadel, an interesting experience.
The flight home was pleasant and I met so many incredibly innovative and intelligent people. I cannot wait until D.C in the fall!
