Over the weekend my Aunt gave me an amazing gift. Three natural stone rings hand attached to gold and steel wire. They are so beautiful and I can't wait to wear them!
Today I got to visit two very different beaches. The first, center beach, was small and covered in pebbles. The second, Jones Beach. A place I grew up, going to almost every gate there. Swimming, playing, walking, shopping, every summer was spent at the beach only twenty minuets from my grandmothers. Since she moved up closer to my mother, I haven't gotten to visit the beach as much as I would like. It has actually been almost two years since i've set foot on Jones Beacvh and the renion was as relaxing as it was fun!
A weekend on Long IslandThis weekend my mom and I headed down to the tip of Long Island to visit my aunt and uncle. We arrived friday night to settle in and prepare for the three days ahead. Saturday morning my uncle and I went out for groceries and came across a flea market. There were so many unique shops and booths we spent the whole morning there. One woman was selling hand made fair trade mother of pearl clutches from Nepal. Then at another booth I found two necklaces for only 5$ each! After this incredible find, it started to rain. That may be an understatement though because within seconds we were soaking. We happily walked back to the car, actually grateful that the rain was cooling us off.
Back at the house we had a nice lunch and then got ready to go out again to Greenport in the evening. Greenport is this cute little town right on the bay. Theres an old carousel on the water and shops to fit everyones personality. I went shopping and found the best shirt for my trip to France at a store called Impulse (http://www.impulseboutiques.com/). I loved their clothes, accessories and service. The saleswomen were there when needed but did not hound the customers. It was very refreshing. Later right before we left Greenport I found fantastic plack evening gloves in an antique shop with a tear. I bought them and then fixed the small tear. Quite elegant I think. I ended the day with some freshly made hibiscus tea made by my uncle. |
