Tuesday Morning was al about Yoga. My usually Tuesday Yoga class took a field trip and at 11 am we all met up at a Yoga Center on 24th Street. Upon entering we were promptly instructed to remove our shoes and put them on what seemed like a bookcase filled with other footwear. Barefooted and a little nervous I headed up the stairs into a yellow walled long rectangular room. The floor covered in purple yoga mats. I have heard horror stories of difficult yoga classes filled with muscle straining poses and post class back pain, what was I getting myself into. Well it turns out this class mainly focused on relaxation and control of breath. The class did do some poses but none wear difficult in a muscular sense. As we went through a series of poses, there would be a breath with each move. Then in between each exercise we would relax our entire body and center our mind. Walking down the steps, after the class my mind felt clear and alert. In the back kitchen room, some of the other instructors had prepared an all vegan meal for us. I do not know exactly what was in it but it was along the lines of a salad, vegetables and some sort of rice or risotto. We ate outside on a back patio, without shoes. The experience was overall calming and I really enjoyed my class. Well time to get back to busy New York life. xoxo
