I may have jumped the gun in posting about my daytime activities because so much happened after the last post was published! I attended my History of Art Class to find an intriguing professor wearing black jeans, a suit jacket and cowboy boots. Eclectic yes, but his delivery of the material was nothing less than serious. In that classroom I reflected on last years AP Euro class and our temporary delve into understanding art. Although then I was less than appreciative of the activity, now I am grateful I have a slight background in understanding art. This course, you see, is graded solely on one quiz, a midterm and a final. Whew! After the intense discovery of a test based grade class, I went to dinner, something almost as intense at FIT. Today I went with a different group of friends than I have usually been going with. It was nice to change it up and keep connections I made during orientation week. The conversation was funny and woke me up a bit, for I was starting to get tired at 7pm! Towards the end of my meal, I received a text from a friend in Brooklyn. He goes to school at St. Francis college and our other friend form back home was in town to visit before his move in (to Brown). So i quickly finished, hopped on the subway and whisked myself down to Brooklyn Heights. I got to see his dorm, and we all met up for coffee and reminiscent conversation. We also got to talking about what college in the city was like and I realized I didn't and would never probably have enough time to explain it. The simplest truth, I love it here, and coming to FIT was the best decision I have ever made. Sadly, I had to leave early to get to a hall meeting on my floor. Almost as fast as I got there I left, yet again being bustled along by the 123 subway. The hall meeting was hot but held good company. I found the girl sitting across form me shares not only my name but my birthday! We plan on having a floor wide celebration next week! It was also announced there will be a floor event next week where we will have a "spa night". Can it get any better?
After the meeting and quickly escaping the heat of the second floor I came down to my room to make a dent in some of my homework. In the hall I spotted a girl in her robe and not able to get into her room! I invited her into mine to sit and use my phone or computer to contact her roommate. Luckily she did and her roommate cam back and unlocked the door! Thank goodness for technology, sometimes.
Well last night was fun, but everyday seems to get better here, there is always another opportunity presenting itself. Today I have my honors english class and honors dinner later tonight. Tomorrow is fashion week signups which translates into getting up at 4am to wait on a line for 5 hours just to work for free. Well, wish me luck!
