This past May I had this small idea in my mind, to produce my own fashion show. What started out as nothing but a simple idea of a senior in high school turned into a successful show for a good cause. Catwalk for a Cure is now going to be an annual fashion show to support the Miles of Hope foundation. In turn supporting the fight against breast cancer. This subject is very near to me, noting that breast cancer is in my family. I choose a fellow senior as the designer and she is incredibly talented and amazing. We had around 80 people come to the show, food, a real DJ and a manicure bar. Everyone had an amazing time and in total I raised 1000 dollars for Miles of Hope.
Although I was running around like a mad woman for two weeks and calling in favors like crazy, the experience was amazing. In the moment, when the models are walking down the runway and people are amazed, in that moment I find some of the greatest pride and satisfaction. It also helps when people tell me they had fun after. For two 17 year olds, a month and a budget under 200 dollars, it wasn't bad at all. I really hope next years will be just as amazing.
